What is a Service SETA Skills Development Programme? A Skills Program is a short learning programme consisting of one or more unit standards grouped together. It will enable learners to achieve credits towards a full NQF qualification, but does not constitute a full qualification.
How much will it cost? To attend the training is free of charge – learning material will be provided (transport, lunch, drinks, etc are excluded and for your own account).
How old must I be to enter the Skills Development Programme? You must be at least 16 years or older and have a valid SA National ID.
What will I receive when I successfully complete the Skills Development Programme? You will receive a certificate upon completion of the learning program. This certificate is recognised nationally.
How do I apply? Complete and sign a Service SETA Skill Program Learner Enrolment Form and attach a copy of your ID.
What is expected from me during the Skills Development Programme? It is your responsibility to be an active learner and use every opportunity to listen, read, practice, observe, ask questions, and keep up to date records of your achievements.

The Skills Development Programme are intended for everybody. You might be employed, a student, or unemployed. You may find that your approach to the Skills Development Programme might vary depending on your situation. If you are an unemployed student who wants to enter into a Skills Development Programme you should do the following:
This may mean that you need to have a certain level of education or have certain skills that are specified as a prerequisite for the Skills Development Programme you selected. Choose a Skills Development Programme you are interested in and call the relevant person (this may be a Career Centre or a business) to put your name down on the potential learners’ list. You may put your name down on more than one list. If you do not hear from the person you contacted within two weeks, you can call them to check on what is happening with the Skills Development Programme you put your name down for.
